What We Do

Cuerden Consulting undertakes a broad range of training and project management related tasks within the public and private sectors.

Our roots are in the rigorous analysis and design of training, learning and education solutions. Having originated as a Defence sector consultancy, we make extensive use of the Defence Systems Approach to Training (DSAT) methodology and quality standard. DSAT, properly conducted, delivers a fully auditable training solution. Every element of the training solution can be fully justified, ensuring “the job, the whole job, and nothing but the job” is trained. This allows clients to invest in training that is genuinely needed, ensuring maximum return on investment.

As a result of this approach our training, learning and education consultancy skills have been proven to be relevant to many markets. Unsurprisingly, the UK Ministry of Defence is a major client, and generally requires the full DSAT methodology to be followed, as detailed in Joint Service Publication (JSP) 822. Additionally we do work for Defence prime contractors and overseas Armed Forces.

We work extensively in the rail sector, where our clients include Network Rail, Keolis Amey Docklands, Hitachi Rail Europe and the Rail Safety and Standards Board. We also do work in the ports and maritime sector, and other areas that require a rigorous and auditable solution. We are able to use some or all of DSAT, dependent upon client needs and budgets.

Cuerden Consulting is widely regarded as a leading exponent of the Training Needs Analysis (TNA) process and the Systems Approach to Training (SAT). The company is at the formative edge of TNA processes, pioneering methodologies for individual and collective training and education. We provide end to end training solutions from job analysis through to the development of courseware, instructional specifications and the hosting of multimedia training content.

Our in-house Learning Solutions Team (LST) has many years’ experience in the development, hosting, administration and management of learning through the effective design and successful implementation of Virtual Learning Environments (VLE) and Learning Management Systems (LMS).
